Italian-American violist Tristan Macaggi is recognized for his depth of tone and expressive

sensitivity. Equally at home as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral performer, he has

performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Davies Symphony Hall, and Koerner Hall, and

given concerts throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Macaggi has appeared with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Hamilton Philharmonic, and the

Royal Conservatory and National Academy Orchestras of Canada. A committed chamber

musician, he has collaborated with members of the Kelemen, Chiaroscuro, London Haydn,

Kronos, and Arditti Quartets, and has worked alongside artists including Krzysztof Chorzelski,

Lech Antonio Uszyński, Pablo Hernán Benedí, Richard Lester, Jonian Ilias Kadesha, and

Thomas Riebl. He is an alumnus of the Domaine Forget Chamber Music Intensive and took part

in the 9th edition of Kalamata Music Days.

He studied at The Glenn Gould School under Steven Dann, before pursuing further studies at the

Haute École de Musique in Sion with Timothy Ridout and Pablo Hernán Benedí.

Upcoming engagements include performances at the Wyoming International Chamber Music

Festival and the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, as well as a return to China as teaching assistant

for the Cyrus Tang Foundation Summer Music Camp. In the 2026/27 season, Macaggi presents a

complete Brahms sonata cycle, encompassing all of the composer's violin and viola sonatas.

Tristan Macaggi plays on a viola by William Desquien, on generous loan from an anonymous

patron.
