Recognized for her clear tone quality and technical ability on both flute and piccolo, Mara Goree

is quickly establishing herself as an adept orchestral musician. Originally from San Antonio,

Texas, Mara began playing flute at the age of 10. Mara received her bachelor’s degree in flute

performance from Indiana University in 2023, where she studied under Thomas Robertello, and

her master’s from Northwestern University in 2025, where she studied under John Thorne. At

Northwestern, Mara was the recipient of the prestigious Walfrid Kujala flute scholarship.

In 2024, Mara was appointed Second Flute with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, where she

performed for two seasons. She has also performed with Ballet Indiana and San Antonio

Philharmonic, and has attended the summer festivals Chicago Summer Opera and National

Repertory Orchestra.

Mara will be joining the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Third Flute/Piccolo in their

2026-2027 season.
